ACEC-SC Fall Golf Tournament

ACEC-SC held its second annual Fall Golf Tournament on October 29, 2007 in Charleston at Dunes West Golf Club.  With 17 teams from across South Carolina the tournament was a success both in fellowship and fundraising.  “Financially speaking, the tournament was a great success in that it exceeded last year’s profit as well as this year’s goal,” said Jim O’Connor, PE, ACEC-SC Fall Golf Chair.

After teams warmed up on the driving range, ACEC-SC’s fall golf tournament started with a shotgun start at 1:00 pm.  Golfers enjoyed an afternoon of a captain’s choice tournament.  The tournament wrapped up right as it was getting dark.  “I heard a lot of people saying they had a great time and will definitely do it again next year, and that’s really the most important thing for tournament sustainability because it sets the event up to be successful next year,” said O’Connor.

Following the Tournament ACEC-SC had a nice BB-Q dinner at the Club House at Dunes West where raffle gifts where given out and teams turned in their scores.  Team sponsors did a great job bringing company schwag and Golf Chair Jim O’Connor did a tremendous job buying prizes for the tournament so everyone was able to win at least one raffle item.  ACEC-SC Fall Golf Chair said, “The other gage of success, and a very important one to me as the tournament director, is the tournament fun factor.  The weather was great this year, the tournament was well attended, there were plenty of contests and prizes and it was all topped off with some fantastic BBQ and chicken, which made for a fun event for all.”
