State Engineer Calls Meeting to Review Procurement Process

John White, PE, State Engineer, has called two meetings with Engineers, Architects, Contractors and representatives from state agencies to review the Office of the State Engineer’s procurement processes in an effort to streamline them and make them work better.

Jerry Timmons and Joe Jones have represented the engineering community at these meetings.

The group is getting input from all sectors:  the clients – state agencies who purchase A/E and Construction, OSE – State Engineer whose staff must perform certain functions on contracts, oversight and other transactions, A/E and contractors who must satisfy their clients and OSE.  All areas were up for discussion. State agencies and the other groups identified and prioritized areas that might be improved. Some issues may be done in house while others may take legislation.

Originally, the group hoped to have their tasks completed by May 1, but there remains a lot of work to complete this appraisal of the OSE procedures.
