USC Geography Department Proceeding Toward Offering Land Surveying Minor Surveyors seeking registration after 2010 must have a four-year degree to become licensed. Now, none of the South Carolina colleges offer four-year programs that include surveying with enough credit hours to satisfy state law. The USC Geography Department has been working with the SC Society of Professional Land Surveyors and others for some time to build a program. According the SCSPLS, the Geography Department has given the “green light” to proceed with a “Land Surveying Minor.” Two new classes will be added to the department’s offerings. They are Cadastral Mapping and Lidar and Photogrammetry. The department is also working on a Surveying Law Class. To meet state law; 12 semester hours must be in surveying for one to qualify for surveyor registration. |
