Engineering Technologist Apply for Registration

A law passed last year allows engineering technology graduates from four-year programs with the required experience successful passage of the Fundamentals and Professional Engineer exams to become registered.

The law requires engineering technologists to submit a port folio of their work and to be examined by a committee of registered engineers. If their port folios and their interviews are successful, the Registration Board grants them registration.

According to the Registration Board, the number of applicants is unknown, but the number is expected to be fairly high.  Registered engineers are needed in South Carolina, and this program gives those who have been working in engineering an opportunity to move to the next level, professional registration.
