2010 SC Engineering Conference Issues “Call for Papers”
The 2010 SC Engineering Conference Planning Committee has issued a “call for papers” giving engineers, businesses, academics and anyone else who has a meaning program for an engineering audience to place their potential programs before the Planning Committee.
Joe Jones, Engineering Conference administrator, said the committee knows there are great projects and programs that should be considered. This “call for papers” is one way for the committee to get input from everyone.
Consider putting together a program; pass the call along to individuals, companies, professors or other engineers who might want to tell engineers about something from which they can benefit.

Engineers’ Legislative Reception is Around the Corner
Mark your calendars, the ACEC-SC, ASCE-SC, SCSPE Legislative Reception is Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
This legislative reception is popular with legislators, perhaps for two elementary reasons. First, it is held early in the session when they are fresh and not worn out by weeks of receptions. Second, we hold the reception in the hotel where many legislators stay while the legislature is in session; so, the engineers’ reception is easy to attend.
Having said that, this reception is a great opportunity for engineers to come to Columbia and spend time with their legislators. Receptions are important because it is a single opportunity when a group, engineers, can talk to legislators about issues that are important to them. Engineers are not competing with others for a legislator’s ear on other issues.
Make plans to attend the engineers’ Legislative Reception Tuesday, Jan. 19 at the Clarion Town House on Gervais Street in Columbia.
ACEC-SC 2009 Fall Golf Tournament
 |
| The Wining Team Triplett-King |
ACEC-SC had a successful event last Friday at the 2009 ACEC-SC Fall Golf Tournament. With 16 teams sponsored by various ACEC-SC member firms, 68 golfers enjoyed a nice day in the low country. Golfers arrived at Dunes West Golf Club in Mount Pleasant SC, and warmed up on the driving range in order to get started at 12:30. Though the sun never came out, everyone still had a good time.

| THE LPA GROUP Team |
Golfers started to trickle in around 5:30 where ACEC-SC President Larry Hargrove, of Life Cycle Engineering Inc, waited to greet them. Once everyone finished golfing scores where tallied while the golfers enjoyed a Barbeque dinner. When everyone finished eating, Golf Chair Jim O’Connor, of Collins Engineers Inc., announced the tournaments winners. Triplett King Associates, Inc. took first place with a score of 61, followed closely by second place winners RPM Engineers, Inc with a score of 62.
